UK: Large firms fail to comply with FSA code
Article Abstract:
Just 20% of Britain's biggest companies comply with the FSA's combined code of behaviour, says the National Association of Pension Funds' Voting Issues Service, which has named more than 30 firms that have not yet met specific guidelines. Among them are Singer & Friedlander, Amvescap and Old Mutual. The report finds that 49% of the UK's top 400 companies have not yet met the recommendation that directors' pay levels should only be set by independent non-executive board members.

UK: FSA's polarisation proposals condemned by CA
Article Abstract:
The UK Financial Services Authority's (FSA) proposed reforms to the polarisation regime have been criticized by the Consumers' Association (CA). The CA's senior policy adviser Mick McAteer has dismissed the FSA's suggestion that the changes will reinvigorate the market and says that they will only appeal to benefit providers and distributors and could lead to the wrong kind of competition.
