UK: MCCB REPORT CRITICAL OF MORTGAGE SITES
Article Abstract:
A report from the emortgages taskforce of the Mortgage Code Compliance Board indicates concern about mortgage websites. There are fears that users do not give due consideration to options and make hurried decisions, and that the sites persuade them to choose more profitable products. It is sometimes unclear which lenders are involved in sites and whether the sites cover all products available from lenders, according to the report. There is also some conflict between the provision of information and advice. The taskforce recommended that there should be registration of infomediaries. The MCCB is considering enhancing its Code.
