FRANCE: WHERE TO PUT DAIRY SNACKS TO GO?
Article Abstract:
There are two versions concerning where to put dairy snacks which are to be eaten on the go, in chilled dairy cases. Danone recommends creating a snack section in this department. It should be located between the petits suisses and drinking yogurts. Products such as the Kinder Pingui line, Danone Kid, and petit suisses which are sucked, are to be included in this section. Ferrero thinks that this recommendation is too limiting in terms of opportunities to eat the products. It suggests grouping all products to be eaten on the go into an area which it calls 'milk-based products to be eaten without a spoon.' This space is to be organised around three categories: products to drink, products to suck, and products to bite into. Ferrero advises putting this segment in the middle of the chilled dairy product department. It also recommends making a visual break between the three categories in order to improve the department's visibility. According to Ferrero, about 40% of the retailers are already following this recommendation.
