U.K. mutual funds face another off year in 2008

UK equity fund average returns were lower in 2007, down more than 15 percentage points from 2006. Funds that invested primarily in smaller UK companies lost an average 6.6% in 2007 following a 24% rise in 2006. Equity income funds dropped 1.6% after posting an 18% rise. Ongoing stagnation is expected for 2008.

General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. are to offer junk bonds mutual funds. Investors have made $7.31 billion since March and General Motors Corp. and Ford Motor Co. generate 12.5 percent of the junk bonds mutual fund market.
