UNITED TELECOMS LIKELY TO BAG APSWAN PROJECT
Article Abstract:
The Andhra Pradesh State Wide Area Network (Apswan) project is expected to be awarded to United Telecoms Ltd (UTL), Bangalore. The technical-cum-purchases committee has found UTL as the lowest bidder for the project. UTL's bid is around Rs22.99 crore. The project, which is aimed at improving the government citizen interface, will have to be implemented on a build, own and operate basis. (ag)

SPICE POSTS Rs7.5-CRORE LOSS IN FIRST EIGHT MONTHS

Spice Telecom (ST) incurred a net loss of Rs7.5 crore on a turnover of Rs23.5 crore in the first 8 months of the calendar year 1998. It now has 40,000 subscribers in Karnataka, including 8,000 roaming ones. ST is now offering its services in 12 towns in Karnataka. These services will be extended to Madikere and Mysore. (uh)
