U.S. bidder rejoins the auction for Alitalia

Matlin Patterson Global Advisors L.L.C., a US asset management firm, has rejoined bidding for Italy's state-owned airline Alitalia S.p.A. after a consortium of which it was a member dropped out. The Italian government reports that Matlin Patterson has an interest in acquiring at least 39.9% of the government's 49.9% stake in the airline.

Morgan Stanley Real Estate has acquired Australia's Investa Property Group in the largest ever overseas purchase of an Australian property firm. The $3.9 bil deal represents a 14% premium on Investa shares, valuing Investa at $5.43 bil.
