Nokia abandons venture with Sanyo for phones

Nokia Corp. of Finland is cancelling its plan for an alliance with Sanyo Electric Co. of Japan. The deal was for CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology in wireless telephones. The cell phone market for this type of technology has become increasingly competitive since the joint venture was announced earlier this year.

Nokia profit rises 19% even as prices of cellphone handsets decline

Nokia Corp. of Finland posted a 19 percent increase in fourth quarter net income to 1.27 billion Euros ($1.65 billion) from 1.07 billion Euros last year. The cell phone market is maturing and prices for handsets are falling increasing competition in the marketplace.

Nokia to seek more new markets as operating-margin targets slip
