U.S. lobbyist fails to sway vote on China trade issue; Kevin Kearns takes aim at normal relations on behalf of small business
Article Abstract:
US Business and Industry Council Pres Kevin Kearns has lobbied unsuccessfully against the granting of trade privileges, previously known as the most-favored-nation trading clause, to China. The US House of Representatives has voted to allow China to continue enjoying its current status for another year in a vote of 260-170. However, Kearns may likely remain a challenge to China since he is a legitimate business leader who heads mostly small or privately owned companies that are skeptical of the advantages of globalism.

Washington battles Beijing for listeners
Article Abstract:
The US has strengthened its hand in a psychological war with China carried out through radio broadcasting when the Asia Pacific Network starts operating from Washington, DC. The radio network was formerly called Radio Free Asia and it has Chinese-language programs that listeners in mainland China can easily pick up. Unlike the Voice of America Chinese language broadcasts, the new network's broadcasts will deal with news about China and not about the US.
