U.S. media outlets face more competition in Asia
Article Abstract:
A growing number of US media giants are scrambling to exploit the potentially vast Asian market. Competition is also posed by the other Western cable TV companies already operating in Asia.

Indian TV broadcaster expects court to rule on copyright issues by year end
Article Abstract:
Indian government-owned Doordarshan Dir. Gen. Rathikant Basu hopes that the Supreme Court will issue new rulings aimed at diffusing the confusion over cable-television rights in the country by the end of 1995. Basu attributes much of the confusion to the prevailing practice among Indian TV program producers of selling rights to different parties. Meanwhile, prominent Indian producer Dhirubhai Shah is threating to sue Star TV and Zee Cinema for alleged copyright violations.
