Unchanging Italy
Article Abstract:
Italy may have a new government, but it is not likely to differ much from the previous government, and should have the same prime minister and be described as center-left, as before. There has been criticism of the Italian political system, which is said to foster corruption. A vote in favor of reform was invalid due to a low turnout. Little appears to have changed, and smaller parties can exercise a great deal of influence. Meanwhile the government will not last long unless there is an improvement in the Italian economy.

Guglielmo Clintoni, where are you?
Article Abstract:
Reform-minded Italian voters have several alternatives. Mario Segni, age 53, is a leading reformer who left the scandal-ridden Christian Democratic Party. Northern League founder Umberto Bossi, age 51, also bears strong political resemblance to Bill Clinton.
