Underwriting volume rose 6.7% in first half

The rate of initial public offerings is growing in the first half of 2005 by 6.7 percent to $3.28 trillion, aided by gains in fixed-income securities or bonds and more interest in Europe and China. The securities market is down in the United States and underwriting fees are down 31 percent to $5.75 billion.
