VW stays wary even as net advances 1.7%

Volkswagen AG (VW) posted an improvement of 1.7% in its net income for the first half of 1999. The company posted 845 million deutschemarks (432 million million euros) in net income for the period. During the same period in 1998, VW posted 831million marks. The car maker's sales rose by 13% to 74.37 billion deutschemarks from 65.97 billion marks during the same period the year before.
