Financing and structuring the deal
Article Abstract:
China has seen rapid economic growth which has been aided by foreign investment. Financing investment has been difficult due to cumbersome bureaucratic procedures, speculation on the stock exchange, and problems related to loan guarantees. It is complicated and expensive to issue domestic bonds, though international bond issues may become popular. Progress has been made in the two years to 1995, and foreign investors should not be deterred by the difficulties.

China: market realism
Article Abstract:
China's joint venture market is maturing and becoming more realistic because of increased competition. There is a general trend for mainland companies to acquire smaller entities in Hong Kong before the territory reverts to Chinese rule in June 1997. Tsingtao Brewery is being aided by the State-Owned Enterprise system to expand its operations by acquiring bankrupt breweries, but there is stiff international competition.
