The Slovenian power company Savske elektrarne and Verbundgesellschaft < sterreichische Elektrizit tswirtschafts-AG of Austria> have won the contract to build and operate five hydro power stations with a capacity of 200 MW on the river Save in Slovenia. The power stations are to be built over 11 years, with the first one going on stream in 2001. Savske elektrarne and Verbund are to share the approximately Sch 7bn investment. The Austrian company's share will probably be 49%. The operators will get a guaranteed price for the electricity. *

DaimlerChrysler has placed a Sch 170mn contract with VA Tech Transport- und Montagesysteme (VA Tech TMS) for the delivery of a vehicle body welding facility. The facility will be used in the production of Mercedes-Benz C class cars in South Africa.
