Vertical-launch Mica attracts market interest
Article Abstract:
Matra BAe Dynamics (MBD) introduced the Vertical Launch (VL) Mica surface- to-air missile system at the Asian Aerospace 2000 held in Singapore on Feb 2000. The VL Mica integrates the standard Mica with an active radar or infrared seeker with the Vertical Launch Seawolf launching container system. MBD said the VL can engage up to eight targets within 12 sec. It does not require a dedicated fire control system as target acquisition would be provided by the ship's combat system or a nearby air defense radar.
