Volumes plummet at Nymex's London offshoot

The New York Mercantile Exchange has opened in London, England and after one month open-outcry trading levels have decreased and customers are pulling out. The commodities exchange has been slow to modernize and the daytime electronic trading is not a central part of its business.

Nymex to open U.K. exchange to battle the IPE

The New York Mercantile Exchange is to open an energy-futures exchange based in London, to be called Nymex Europe Ltd. President James Newsome has said the exchange will be opened soonest.
