Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: The leasing volume of the members of the Association of Leasing Companies of the Czech Republic (ALC) was nearly CEK 89 bil in 2000. The share of leasing in the financing of investments in the Czech Republic increased to nearly one third in 2000. The volume of the leasing of movable assets including cars was CEK 84.5 bil in 2000. The volume of the leasing of immovable assets decreased to CEK 4.4 bil in 2000. About 45% of the leasing of movable assets was repesented by the private sector, 25% by industry and civil engineering, 6% by the public service sector and 17% by private consumption in 2000. The share of the five largest leasing companies on the market increased to 57% in 2000 compared to 53% in 1999. ALS associates 95% of leasing companies on the domestic market.

Skoda Holding with a profit
Article Abstract:
Skoda Holding (SH) (Plzen, Czech Republic), holding engineering company, saw an audited consolidated after-tax profit of CEK 65.4 mil in 2000. SH was set up from the group Skoda Plzen (Czech Republic), which saw a loss of CEK 4.3 bil in 1999. SH's 2000 economy was burdened with a write-off worth CEK 255 mil for the utilization of the trade mark Skoda. According to the management of the holding company, SH would see a profit of more than CEK 300 mil excluding the write-off in 2000.

ZDAS saw a loss in 2000

ZDAS (Zdar nad Sazavou, Czech Republic), engineering firm, saw a loss of CEK 289.9 mil in 2000 compared to a profit of CEK 33.2 mil in 1999. The firm decreased its proceeds by 14.7% to CEK 2.229 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. Its operating profit increased by 28.7% to CEK 63.5 mil for 1Q 2001 compared to 1Q 2000. Its proceeds decreased by 3.5% to CEK 580.8 mil for 1Q 2001 compared to 1Q 2000.
