Western companies send video vans to tap rural India's booming market
Article Abstract:
India's rural communities represent a significant largely untapped market for consumer products manufacturers. However, conventional marketing strategies have proven unsuccessful in educating Indian consumers because many of them are poor and illiterate. Some companies such as Colgate-Palmolive India Ltd. and Hindustan Unilever have begun deploying special consumer products vans in India's rural areas. These vans carry video equipment used to showcase 30-minute infomercials on a wide range of consumer products.
