What follows Fidel?
Article Abstract:
Cuba faces economic problems, rising crime and a disintegrating infrastructure. There is still popular support for Cuba's leader, Fidel Castro, for his stand against for US, which is often blamed for the country's economic problems. Cuba has a growing informal sector which is tending to undermine the public sector with goods illegally sold from state enterprises. Tourism and migrants' remittances have become important for the economy. There is concern about the future after Castro, and problems could arise due to assets being demanded by Cuban exiles and US citizens.
