What's wrong with nepotism, anyway?
Article Abstract:
The French see nothing wrong in rewarding friends and relations with jobs, and this may include awarding fake jobs, which only involve drawing a salary. Attitudes are changing in France, and younger magistrates are less likely to approve of such practices, which has meant corruption investigations. There has been a relaxed attitude to public accountability of senior civil servants and ministers, and resignations and apologies are rare. This illustrates a difference between attitudes in southern and northern Europe.
