European countries disagree as to the military role of the WEU. A group lead by Britain believes that it could unite NATO and the European Community, while a group lead by France asserts that the WEU could be used to form a military force separate from the US.

The best international alliance would consist of the US, the democratic countries of Europe and Japan. The objectives of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization should be changed to equally address the needs of all member countries.

The most significant threat to post cold war Europe is the economic disparity between Eastern and Western Europe. NATO still plays an important role in peacekeeping during a time of transition for Eastern countries.
