Officials for the Washington Institute for Near East Policy toured Syria, Israel and Jordan to determine progress towards peace, autonomy for Palestinians and settlements in the Golan Heights. Some progress has been made, but an outbreak of violence could crush any chance of a settlement.

Inching forward in Moscow: Middle East peace
Article Abstract:
Multilateral talks in Moscow aimed at keeping the Middle East peace seeking efforts alive were successful in at least getting the parties involved to agree to continue dialogue. Ultimate success probably hinges on getting Israel to agree to a 'land for peace' arrangement.

The Middle East peace talks are scheduled to resume Apr 27, 1993, in Washington, DC. While the Palestinians feel that their position has improved since the last talks, they are concerned that Pres Clinton may be more partial to Israel than George Bush was.
