When the defence of the realm constitutes a plain nuisance
Article Abstract:
The court proceedings initiated by the elite Dennis family against the unbearable noise pollution created by the British Harrier fighter jets while training pilots in the vicinity are presented. The judge concludes that although pilots have to be trained in the interests of national defense, for which the Dennis family should be compensated for the nuisance and damages caused by the deafening noise.

The extraordinarily sensitive problem of liability in nuisance
Article Abstract:
Two cases that claimed damages in nuisance are described. In both the cases the claims were rejected by the Court, on grounds that the damages sought were for extraordinarily sensitive activity, and not for ordinary trade or convenience.
