Whimsical and wrong
Article Abstract:
The jury at the 1999 Cannes film festival has returned some verdicts that have been widely criticized. 'Rosetta' by Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne was chosen as best film, but it did not merit two awards. A very slow film called 'L'humanitie' by Bruno Dumont was awarded three prizes. Pedro Almodovar's 'Todo Sobre Mi Madre' was rightfully given a prize, as was the award to Alexandr Sokurove for the screenplay of a movie called 'Moloch'. Movies that deserved prizes included 'Felicia's Journey'. There was also a lack of awards for movies for ordinary moviegoers.
