Donath-Burson-Marsteller (Czech Republic), public relations agency, saw proceeds of 57.2 mil Kc in 1999. The firm confirmed its leading position on the domestic market in 1999. The second position was taken by the agency Ogilvy Public Relations (Prague, Czech Republic) with proceeds of 34 mil Kc. The third position was taken by the agency AMI Communications (Prague, Czech Republic) with proceeds of 33.5 mil Kc in 1999. The largest annual proceeds growth was seen by the agency GCI (Prague, Czech Republic), which saw proceeds of 28.8 mil Kc in 1999. Public relations agencies associated in the association APRA (Czech Republic) increased their proceeds by 23% to 341 mil Kc in 1999 compared to 1998. About 289.1 mil Kc of the sum were represented by the proceeds of the ten largest agencies.

Trinecke zelezarny (Trinec, Czech Republic), metallurgy firm, plans to produce about 2 mil t of rolled goods and continuous castings in 1999. The firm expects a profit of 246 mil Kc in 1999. The profit should be generated due to investments of 1.558 bil Kc in the development of the firm's production capacities. The company produced 1.114 mil t of steel for the first half of 1999, 0.5% less compared to the same period in 1998. The firm sold 978,082 t of rolled goods for the first half of 1999, 5.4% less compared to the first half of 1998. Exports represented 55.3% of the firm's sales for the first half of 1999.

Vesuvius asserts itself in spite of recession

Vesuvius (Trinec, Czech Republic), manufacturer of refractory ceramics for continuous steel casting, saw proceeds of 550 mil Kc in 1998. The company's productivity of labour was more than 9 mil Kc per employee in 1998. The firm exports about two thirds of its production. The company's largest domestic consumers are the metallurgy firms Nova hut (Ostrava, Czech Republic), Vitkovice (Ostrava, Czech Republic) and Trinecke zelezarny (Trinec, Czech Republic). Vesuvius saw an after-tax profit of 39 mil Kc in 1998.
