Who is taking interest?
Article Abstract:
The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, has announced that the Bank of England will now make decisions about interest rates, based on advice from the Monetary Policy Committee, which is made up of senior bank executives and independent advisors. The aim is to keep inflation below 2.5%, and it is expected that the Bank of England will be able to do this, and so encourage business growth. The move also means that the Chancellor is not able to introduce changes to gain short-term political advantage. The economy is still likely to be affected by international economic factors.

Taking a new direction
Article Abstract:
Selecting non-executive directors is a very important process, as was seen at Logica, which in late 1992 began to re-engineer its board. It established an induction programme for its now non-executive directors, ensuring that they became familiar with all areas of the organisation. It also worked hard to establish a relationship of trust between the chief executive and the non-executives. Non-executives play a key role in offering impartial advice, and can draw on a wide range of business experience.
