Air France KLM S.A. has issued a nonbinding letter of intent to make an offer for Italian air carrier Alitalia Linee Italiane S.p.A., while Deutsche Lufthansa AG announced it has abandoned a plan to make a bid. AP Holding S.p.A., which owns Italy's Air One, is now the only other competitor for Alitalia.
