Why Sars didn't return

Epidemiologists and microbiologists believe that Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) was related and was caused due to human contact with civets or other wild species. Officers in surgical masks confiscated and slaughtered thousands of palm civets and other wild creatures at markets and restaurants in Southern China, which helped to disappear the disease.

The need for better hygiene in southern China is stressed, considering the outbreak of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome) and the avian chicken flu, which originated in the country. Steps to stop China from becoming a hotbed of pandemic diseases are discussed briefly.
