Why sponsorship is more than a lottery: even in these cost-conscious days, business sponsorship of sport and the arts is looking healthy. Two things are helping, government backing and deals where you don't have to come up with cash
Article Abstract:
Sponsorship has undergone a change now that many large organisations no longer sponser a vas array of arts events. The Institute of Sports Sponsorship (ISS) runs Sportsmatch which was launched by the Department of National Heritage. It offers matching of a sponsor's money pound for pound, and is aimed at grass roots events for the young, disabled and ethnic minorities. Sportsmatch awards are made to new or increased investment, and similar methods are entering the arts where cash sponsorship fell by 2.2% in 1994. However sponsorship in kind increased by 98%.
