The French market for womenswear
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the market for womenswear in France shows that French women are gearing away from formal clothing towards sporty and casual clothing. Pret-a-porter remains the largest sector of the market, although small items, or petits pieces, have outstripped this sector in terms of demand because of the trend towards casual clothing. Franchise chains are gaining on independent clothing retailers such as Promod and NafNaf in terms of market share. However, the sector faces a bleak future, as it is predicted that real value and prices will fall in the years ahead.

Womenswear in Germany
Article Abstract:
The German market for women's clothing has been characterized by the increased popularity of casual wear and the growth in demand for natural fiber. While domestic production has been adversely affected by the influx of imported items, the prevailing recession is also responsible for the decline in the domestic market. Knitted clothing remains the largest segment of the industry. Sales of fur clothing, on the other had, have been on a decline due to lower levels of consumer spending and heightened awareness on animal welfare.
