Cubans and Haitians in Miami, FL, joined together to protest against the governments in their homelands. While the two groups both have in common the repressive regimes in their countries, Cubans are allowed greater emigration rights because they are fleeing communism.

Article Abstract:
Cubans trying to flee for the US killed three policemen just as three Cuban exiles were being sentenced to death for returning as terrorists. These incidents gave Fidel Castro the chance to blame the US for its troubles precipitated by the cutoff of Soviet subsidies.
