Yukos seeks refuge in U.S. court

Fearing that it would not get a fair hearing in its home country, Russia's OAO NK Yukos is filing for bankruptcy protection in the United States. The petroleum company is hoping that a Chapter 11 bankruptcy ruling in a court in Houston, Texas, will block the Russian government from forcing the sale of its main production unit, Yuganskneftegas.

Enel plans a bid for Yukos assets: profit falls 22%
Article Abstract:
Italian electric power company ENEL S.p.A. is planning to acquire assets of bankrupt Russian petroleum company OAO Yukos. ENEL, which posted a 22% net profit loss in 2006, is hoping the acquisition will help further its international expansion plans.
