ZDB Bohumin reconstructs
Article Abstract:
ZDB (Bohumin, Czech Republic), iron and wire firm, will install a moulding machine at a cost of 100 mil Kc. The machine will replace the firm's old rolling mill. The equipment with a capacity of nearly 100,000 t of flat products per year was produced by Zdas (Zdar nad Sazavou, Czech Republic). The investment, which is covered from the firm's sources, should be recovered in seven years. The equipment should start its full operation in March 2000.

ZDB (Bohumin, Czech Republic), metallurgy firm, started the pilot operation of a modernised mill train in February 2000. The pilot operation will take three months. The investment costs on the modernisation were 92 mil Kc. The modernisation was started on 22 November 1999 and was completed at the beginning of January 2000. The main aim of the modernisation is to stand up to European competition. The firm exports 80% of its total production. The new mill train could ensure annual proceeds of over 1 bil Kc and its rolled tonnage could be 100,000 t.

Zelezarny a dratovny Bohumin (ZDB) (Bohumin, Czech Republic), metallurgy firm, is looking for a partner for its heating plant Viadrus. The firm plans to invest 200 mil Kc in the plant in 1999. About 70 mil Kc of the sum should be used for the modernisation of a rolling mill. The firm will decrease production at its wire plant in 1999, due to recession in the metallurgy sector. The company plans to dismiss employees from the plant. ZDB manufactures wheel sets, among others.
