Mightier than the keyboard?
Article Abstract:
The pentop computer provides users with an electric pen that can be used to input handwritten notes into a small laptop PC using a special digitizing tablet. The electric pen can also be used to operate programs in much the same way that an electronic mouse does. Pentop computers read handwritten input using either one of two methods, by character recognition and by the storage of handwritten inputs as electronic images. However, given the limitations of these two methods, pentop computers, as a rule, are able only to recognize clearly printed handwritten characters.
