A concrete command: she skippers a Canadian navy "ship."
Article Abstract:
Forty-year-old CA Barb Clerihue Carter is the commanding officer of the stone frigate HMCS Malahat, a building on the waterfront in Victoria, British Columbia. Carter had joined the naval reserves at 19 when she was a university student and had been with the navy in 1978, quickly rising from officer cadet to lieutenant-commander. She is in charge of 150 people as a commander of the concrete ship and head of one of the 24 divisions of the Canadian naval reserves. Carter credits accounting, the course she shifted to from biology, for helping her handle the process flow at Malahat.

Accounting as a soap opera
Article Abstract:
People's personalities are reflected in the way they handle their finances. This is the view taken by Robert Shortley, an accountant, who has his own practice. He likens accounting to a soap opera where he sees failures and success as reflected in a person's financial statement. Shortley's view on accounting is novel and breaks the public's stereotyped image of an accountant.
