A corporate-wide ergonomics programme: implementation and evaluation
Article Abstract:
Neglecting to address ergonomics issues will result in potential risks to operator well-being in apparel manufacturing because of the nature of the occupation. A study presents the results of the development of an ergonomics program in a multi-division apparel manufacturing firm, the sequence of events used to implement the program and an evaluation of its growth and effectiveness after it had been in operation for roughly two years.

An exponential model of isometric muscular fatigue as a function of age and muscle groups
Article Abstract:
An exponential relation to characterize isometric muscular fatigue in terms of age and muscle groups at various percentages of maximum voluntary contraction is obtained. The model is validated by an experimental measurement of isometric elbow flexion and knee extension of two groups of male subjects. The subjects, whose endurance time for contracting their biceps and quadriceps produced a fatigue curve, were all right-handed.

Visually-controlled leg movements embedded in a walking task
Article Abstract:
A study, wherein nine participants aimed alternate feet at set targets along a walkway, revealed that the speed of visually controlled movements in a walking task is much faster than for relative reciprocal leg or arm movements. Visual control, however, was found to be operational solely for target sizes smaller than the foot.
