A golden age for broadcast design?
Article Abstract:
Its a golden age for broadcast designers as graphic designers are now being given the credit due to them. Design for television reflects social and cultural values as seen in the MTV advertisements. Hollywood production designs are felt to be better then foreign designs though their sets are dark and gray compared to the flamboyant settings found in Japanese television. ABC's mini-series 'Wild Palms' is the best example of broadcast design. Graphic designers have a challenging job as they have to create new logos, little sequences and designs to give programs unique identities.
