A million dollars a year?
Article Abstract:
There is a need to develop better rules to determine whether chief executive officers deserve their enormous pay packages. In Canada, 100 or so CEOs received over C$1 million in salaries and bonuses in 1995 alone. Executive compensation is often based on the principles of market rates, corporate performance and/or basic salary as basis for variable pay. Since these principles all have serious flaws, a better compensation rule is establishing an acceptable ratio between the salary of CEOs and that of unskilled workers.

Wage inequity
Article Abstract:
The job market is marked by wages and salary differences. The inequity may be attributed to the law of supply and demand as well as differences in job qualifications. Athletes receive higher wages than public servants because the demand for sports players is higher than the demand for public servants. More people are willing to pay high stadium fees to watch basketball or baseball games than to watch a government candidate speak about his electoral platform.
