A nanoliter-scale nucleic acid processor with parallel architecture
Article Abstract:
The purification of nucleic acid from microbial and mammalian cells can be performed using a newly developed nucleic acid processor, which can measure nano-liter volumes without pre and post sample treatments. The nucleic acid processor can process different samples in parallel architectures, thus indicating its importance in performing integrated batch processing functionalities for biological and medical applications.

Evolutionary optimization of fluorescent proteins for intracellular FRET
Article Abstract:
A quantitative evolutionary strategy for Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET) using fluorescence-activated cell sorting to optimize a cyan-yellow fluorescent protein pair is described. This resulted in a pair, CyPet-YPet, exhibiting a 20-fold ratiometric FRET signal change that enabled high-throughput flow cytometric screening of cells undergoing caspase-3-dependent apoptosis.
