Capturing and profiling adult hair follicle stem cells
Article Abstract:
Keratin 1-15, which is targeted at the mouse bulge cells is used for capturing and profiling adult hair follicle, determining the bulge lineage and isolating and characterizing the cells. Bulge cells probably contribute towards the maintenance of the three major epithelial cell types but the majority of the cells from the bulge may be responsible for the generation of new hair follicle.

Profiling epithelial stem cells
Article Abstract:
The gene expression patterns of epithelial stem cells are studied. The research has provided a step for accessing the terrain of hair follicle morphogenesis and self-renewal and may also help in developing medical applications related to epithelial stem cells, tissue regeneration for burn wounds, genetic correction of skin diseases and stimulation or inhibition of hair growth.

Specification of motoneurons from human embryonic stem cells
Article Abstract:
Human embryonic stem cells generating early neuroectodermal cells are discussed. It is suggested that retinoic acid action is required during neuroectoderm induction for motoneuron specification. Stem cells have restricted capacity to generate region-specific projection neurons even at an early developmental stage.
