A new development for the camera shy?
Article Abstract:
The photographic industry is counting on digital technology to revive the stagnant market for cameras, film and reprocessing. Film and camera sales have been declining in the UK and the rest of Europe, and have only been growing by less than 1% in the US and Japan. Manufacturers are hoping that the changes brought about by digital technology will stimulate a market in which major technological innovations have been few and far between. The new technology forms the basis of the advanced photo system (APS) that promises to revolutionize photography for ordinary users. This new film and camera system is touted to offer improved print and processing quality without abandoning the silver halide-based image making methodology. Eastman Kodak is at the forefront of the new technology, but it has banded with competitors Fuji Photo Film Co., Canon, Minolta and Nikon to develop common standards underlying APS.

The shape of things to come
Article Abstract:
Continuously evolving technologies have been changing and will further change offices and the manner in which work is done therein. Among these technologies, multimedia, which employs a combination of text, video and graphics, promises dramatic changes through an application called virtual reality. Virtual reality systems employ all the human senses in creating environments and objects that are impossible to differentiate from their real counterparts. When combined with technological advances in computers and telecommunications, such as intelligent networks and call line identification, virtual reality can eliminate the business problems arising from physical distance between the parties involved. It also promises to eventually eliminate the office completely as it can transform the home into a workplace.
