A new harvest of fluorescent proteins
Article Abstract:
New fluorescent proteins like mCherry, mBanana, mOrange, mStrawberry, mTangerine and mHoneydew, which can be used as research tools for studying the proteins within the living cells, are described. The new fluorescent proteins will ease the restrictions on imaging experiments that require red protein, serving as the starting point for more improvements and alterations in the study of the living cells.

Europe makes way into structural biology
Article Abstract:
The European research consortium in Grenoble, France is planning to have a platform to produce high-quality crystals that show very less quantities of proteins. With the help of this new platform that is called the Partnership for Structural Biology (PSB), the biopharmaceutical companies would have a good base to identify the protein structures by 2005.
