A soaraway stock market

Article Abstract:

Sweden's stock market has performed well between 1992 and 1996. The major exporters have seen a rise in profits which has been aided by the low value of the Swedish krona. There has been concern over the performance of cyclical stocks since fall 1995. A rise in the value of the krona has also been cause for concern. Net buying by foreign investors slowed down in 1995. Foreign ownership has become increasingly important in some sectors such as forestry.

Stock exchange growth hopes

Article Abstract:

Ghana's stock exchange saw a sharp rise in share prices in 1993 and 1994, but prices increased by 6% in 1995 and have been subdued in 1996. Parliamentary and presidential elections have affected share prices in 1996 as has uncertainty over economic policy. State utilities are being privatized at a slow pace and there are not enough companies listed on the exchange. Ashanti Goldfields is the biggest of the 20 companies listed on the exchange.
