Battle looming over 'Rumsfeld-centric' QDR: Expert

A defense industry expert has disclosed that the Congress and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld are headed for confrontation over the recommendations likely to emerge from the 2005 Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR). Winslow Wheeler, a director at the Washington-based Center for Defense Information, has predicted that a 'Rumsfeld-centric' body of QDR Recommendations might raise congressional hackles and lead to a battle over defense budgeting priorities.

Pentagon agrees with GAO on award practices

The Department of Defense often distributes bonuses to defense contractors without apparent regard to the contractors' actual performances. The Pentagon agreed with suggestions made by the Government Accountability Office recommendations for improving the process.
