Creating a new CPD package

Article Abstract:

The proposal of mandatory continuing professional development (CPD) by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW), to be decided in a vote by the members in June 2004, would be a significant step for the institute. Professor Brian Chiplin, director of education and training for the ICAEW reveals that the new initiative is wholly compatible with many existing development schemes within firms, companies, and public sector organizations.

Article Abstract:

Following the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, 1997, and the Bonn Agreement, nation signatories are taking steps to reduce emissions of six greenhouse gases by 5.2% below 1990 levels during the next 8 to 12 years. The UK Emissions Trading Group and the International Emissions Trading Association are developing UK carbon accounting guidance.

Article Abstract:

Ratification of the Protocol to the Convention on Climate Change or the Kyoto Protocol will require accounting changes for corporations. Carbon emissions will prove to be a liability. Curtailing carbon emissions will aid corporate growth and result in carbon as an asset.
