National Transparent Optical Network Consortium, McLean, Va., is being awarded a $21,690,000 technology-investment-agreement contract ($8,875,000, Government Portion; $12,815,000, Contractor Portion) to provide for design, development, and demonstration of a Flat Network Architecture, in support of the Next Generation Internet program. This architecture will include adjustable link capacities and nodes which provide for data packaging into containers for transmission. Expected contract completion date is Dec. 30, 2000.
