The spending habits of the consumers will be propelled by a need for personal satisfaction and away from being propelled by materialism, meaning quality of life will be given more emphasis than quantity of merchandise. Consumers will buy things that they believe to provide them spritual, emotional, health and physical benefits. Therefore, firms' marketing efforts should be focused on establishing a reputable image to win customer loyalty.

NCR Corp, formerly known as National Cash Register, held in Mar 1999 in Singapore its first global incentive dubbed 'Global Recognition Progam,' in recognition of high achievers from the company's four divisions. Aside from participating in business seminars, Global Recognition participants visited Singapore's attractions and venues, such as the Sentosa Island, Singapore Zoo and Far East Corner and Little India districts.
