Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom technology sector is undergoing changes, and Oxford is emerging as a center in competition with Cambridge. High-tech venture capital funds are also an encouraging sign in the UK and mainland Europe. The US dominates in this sector, and has high levels of investment, but European companies are able to compete in some niche markets such as Enterprise Resource Management software. Outsourcing is becoming increasingly important and this is helped by the year 2000 transition problem and European monetary union.
