An Austrian timber firm invests considerably

Holzindustrie Schweighofer Plana (HSP) (Plana, Czech Republic), wood-working firm, has completed investments of about CEK 1 bil. The investments were used for the reconstruction and modernization of machine equipment including the construction of new halls and buildings. The firm exports 98% of its production. Its revenues amounted to CEK 1.85 bil in 2000 compared to CEK 1.35 bil in 1999 and CEK 200 mil in 1998. About 50% of HSP's roundwood processing are represented by roundwood imported from Germany. HSP is a part of Holzindustrie Schweighofer (HS) (Austria), which is a part of the multinational group Storaenso Timber.

The revenues of wood-working plants
Article Abstract:
Holzindustrie Schweighofer (HS) (Austria), wood-working company, will invest a total of CEK 1.5 bil in the modernization of its two Czech plants. They are HS Plana (Czech Republic) and HS Zdirec (Czech Republic), which process 1 mil cu mt of coniferous sawnwood per year, one-sixth of total Czech production. The firms saw total revenues of CEK 4.45 bil in 2000, 15% more compared to 1999. Their profit is several dozens of millions of Czech crowns per year. Both the firms have a total of 540 employees.

Investments in wood-working plants
Article Abstract:
Holzindustrie Schweighofer Zdirec (HSZ) (Zdirec, Czech Republic), wood-working firm, will invest CEK 0.5 bil in new technology and an increase in its capacity. The modernization is financed by the firm's owner Holzindustrie Schweighofer (Austria). HSZ saw outputs of CEK 2.6 bil in 2000 compared to CEK 2.5 bil in 1999 and CEK 1.65 bil in 1998. The firm exports 90% of its production.
