Another year, another step forward
Article Abstract:
The outgoing president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, Ian R. McNeil reviews the accomplishments of the Institute under his leadership. During his term, McNeil has been active in supervising the formulation of the accounting profession's long-term goals. Under his administration, the Institute has made considerable progress in audit regulation, in improving the quality and quantity of service made available to the members of the Institute, and in publicly communicating the views of the accounting profession to its members, as well as to the public. McNeil firmly believes that his successor would have the commitment and the drive needed to lead the Institute in facing the many challenges posed by the profession.

The 2007 Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)/Robert Half International roundtable discussion focused on the challenges faced by companies in attracting and retaining finance staff. The members of the roundtable agreed that, with ethics and culture being important to many professionals, diversity is an essential component of any finance function.
